Why Location Matters When You Search
When you need a plumber, you do not want one in a city 200 kilometres away. When you need a doctor urgently, you need the closest available one. Location-aware search understands this and filters results by physical distance โ so the most relevant results appear first.
SearchByNear uses GPS and browser location data to power its "Search Near Me" feature, showing you only the listings that are geographically close to where you are right now.
How GPS Search Works
When you click "Search Near Me", your browser asks for permission to access your device's location. Once you allow this, the platform:
1. Reads your GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude)
2. Compares your position against the coordinates stored for every profile
3. Calculates the distance between you and each listing
4. Sorts results from nearest to farthest
5. Displays your distance to each listing (e.g. "1.3 km away")
Every profile on SearchByNear stores GPS coordinates when the listing is created or when the owner pins their location. This makes distance-based sorting accurate.

Location Privacy
Your GPS coordinates are used only to sort results. They are not stored on the server, not shared with profile owners, and not used for any other purpose. You remain anonymous โ profile owners only see that someone visited their profile, not who or where they are.
If you prefer not to share your exact location, you can type a location name in the search bar (e.g. "Natore" or "Mirpur, Dhaka") and results will be filtered by that area.
Searching in Rural Areas
GPS search is especially valuable in rural Bangladesh, where addresses are not always well-formatted and maps do not always show small businesses. Because SearchByNear stores the GPS pin of each listing, you can find a shop or doctor in a remote village even if their address would not be recognisable to a city-based search engine.
Searching Without GPS
If you decline location permission or your device does not support GPS, you can still search by:
Conclusion
GPS-based search removes the guesswork from finding local services. Instead of browsing a long list of listings from across the country, you immediately see the nearest options โ saving time, travel cost, and frustration. Enable location access and experience the difference.
